This is the best homemade yogurt ever! It has been a family favorite for over 20 years. We do use it sparingly as treat. You can use organic ingredients to make it even healthier.
3 c milk powder
1 x 10 oz can evaporated milk
1 pk yogurt starter (or 3 Tbsp yogurt you saved from the last batch)
8 c warm water
Combine everything except the yogurt starter following the directions on the yogurt starter for temperature. Take a small amount of the warm milk mixture and mix the starter into it, stirring well. Mix this back into the larger container of milk.Add the vanilla now if you'd like flavored vanilla. Follow the starter directions for time and temperature for processing.
Use natural flavorings, like pure vanilla extract, fresh fruit, honey, maple syrup, or xylitol. Add hemp heartsjust prior to eating for a boost of protein and calcium.
